Balai Teknik Sabo Uses BETA-UAS OMNIBE LiDAR for Survey, Modeling, and Disaster Mitigation

BETA-UAS has been trusted by Balai Teknik Sabo, Directorate General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works, through the procurement of an OMNIBE unit equipped with a LiDAR sensor. The procurement was carried out through PT Oseanland Survei Indonesia as a partner in delivering UAV-based survey technology.


For BETA-UAS, this trust represents an important step in the use of locally developed UAV technology for technical work in the water resources sector, especially in areas that require precise topographic data, faster mapping, and a more detailed understanding of field conditions.


OMNIBE is a fixed-wing VTOL drone developed by BETA-UAS for mapping, monitoring, and inspection missions. Its VTOL capability allows the aircraft to take off and land vertically without a runway, while its fixed-wing configuration provides longer endurance and wider area coverage compared to conventional multirotor drones.


In this configuration, OMNIBE is integrated with a LiDAR sensor, allowing it to capture detailed elevation data and surface models, including in areas with dense vegetation cover.


Supporting Survey and Sediment Control Infrastructure Planning


For Balai Teknik Sabo, accurate topographic data is an important foundation for the analysis, planning, and evaluation of sediment control infrastructure.


With LiDAR integration, OMNIBE can support survey work across river areas, watersheds, slopes, sediment-prone zones, and other locations that require detailed elevation mapping.


The resulting data can be used for various technical needs, including sediment control infrastructure planning, land morphology analysis, monitoring of area changes, and the development of surface models for further engineering planning.

One of the key advantages of LiDAR is its ability to support surveys in areas covered by vegetation.


In camera-based mapping, the ground surface is often difficult to observe when it is covered by trees, shrubs, or other vegetation. With LiDAR, some laser points can pass through gaps in the vegetation and provide better information about the actual ground elevation.


This capability is especially relevant for mapping rivers, upstream watershed areas, slopes, hilly terrain, and regions with heavy vegetation cover. Combined with OMNIBE’s wide-area coverage capability, data acquisition can be carried out more efficiently, particularly across large areas that are difficult to survey manually.

OMNIBE is one of BETA-UAS’ UAV products with a Domestic Component Level, or TKDN, of 56.79%.
